SUPPORT THAT ENABLES WORK AND PARENTING TO COEXIST
The YKK Group supports parents who need parental leave while maintaining their long-term career path and using their talents and skills to best effect. Parental leave can be taken until the child reaches his or her second birthday, and we are proud to offer a “parental leave subsidy program” to provide leave for parents after the birth of a child. Until the child reaches school age, parents will be able to work fewer hours, choose a staggered schedule, or take a nursing leave even after parental leave is over.
At the moment, some 277 YKK personnel are taking advantage of parental leave and similar programs. For employees who take a hard look at their career path and lifestyle expectations and decide upon a particular work style, the company is establishing a work design program that will be fair to all. We are moving forward with programs to continually adjust policies and environments to meet the needs of YKK people for shorter working hours or flexible schedules, or whatever else parents need to properly care for their children during their early elementary school years. We know that next-generation child support policies are vital and we have already been certified with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s “Kurumin” mark.
LOANING AND JOB CHANGE POLICIES
The YKK Group has loaning and job change policies aimed at helping employees develop satisfying careers and work in jobs that take advantage of their skills and education. These policies allow movement among group companies and offer a broad stage upon which employees can gain a range of experiences and the group can nurture superior personnel. These policies strengthen the management capabilities of each company and enhance the entire YKK Group. All the personnel and welfare policies and programs explained here can be found in every YKK Group company.
EMPLOYEES’ STOCK OWNERSHIP SYSTEM
YKK Group’s “everyman management” concept means that every employee should consider himself or herself as participating in operating the company. To strengthen that consciousness, all employees of YKK Corporation and YKK AP Inc. are also stockholders, and as a reward for their roles in operating the company, they receive dividends. At present, the employees’ stock ownership association is the head of YKK Corporation’s shareholders, and as stockholders, our employees aim to help the company achieve continuing success.
POLICIES TO SUPPORT OUR EMPLOYEES
Of course YKK Group offers all conventional benefits (employee pension, health insurance, employment insurance, etc.), and the company has a corporate pension, in-house savings deposits, financing assistance, employee group life insurance, and retirement date extension program, all of which add up to employee peace of mind.
HOLIDAYS AND LEAVE OF ABSENCE PROGRAMS
There are 122 days off per year, basically, two days a week. Each YKK Group employee is also entitled to 10 days of paid vacation per year, and up to a maximum of 20, as the previous year’s days not taken can be added. Paid vacation can be taken a half day at a time as well. There are also other special paid days off (wedding leave, childbirth leave, etc.). At YKK, work-life balance can be carefully preserved.
Dormitories and Company Housing
Many of the YKK Group’s employee housing buildings have a superb exterior design, as you would expect from a company that produces architectural products for buildings. Dormitories are all single rooms with full air conditioning, with meals provided (cafeteria), and there is also Company housing for employees with families. Employees can live in these dormitories and Company housing at little personal expense. In areas where the Company has no employee housing, subsidies are provided for rentals.
